Module Title: Mastering the ADDIE Model for Novice Instructional Designers

Module Goals:

  1.  Understand and apply the ADDIE model systematically.
  2. Utilize practical tools and templates to enhance instructional design projects.
  3. Reflect and iterate to improve learning outcomes in real-world settings.

What is the Implementation Phase in ADDIE?

The fourth phase of ADDIE is – Implementation, or the planning and delivering or dissemination of instruction to resolve observed performance problems.

The Implementation phase focuses on refining the program to ensure it delivers effective and efficient results. Instructional designers (IDs) continuously update and adjust the course for smooth delivery. This phase emphasizes procedures, as IDs and participants collaborate to train on new tools and evaluate the design for improvements. Feedback from both IDs and learners plays a crucial role in identifying areas for enhancement, ensuring the program evolves and meets its goals effectively.

Implementation foci are
• Announce and prepare for instruction
• Set up facilities and environment for instruction
• Secure human and material resources
• Plan for possible issues and challenges
The idea is to prepare for seamless implementation of instruction

Practical Tools & Templates:

1. Implementation Plan:

    • Delivery Method: Online or in-person?
    • Schedule: When will training occur?
    • Resources: Computers, projectors, or facilitators.

2. Learner Support Guide:

    • Troubleshooting tips.
    • Contact for technical help.

Example:

For customer service training:

  • Delivery: Upload materials to the LMS.
  • Support: Provide a chat feature for real-time questions.

Reflection Prompt:

  • How will I measure learner engagement during implementation?
